Craig Cruiser - New Theory (Washed Out Cover)

Ben Wagner, aka Craig Cruiser, covered one of Washed Out's best songs, New Theory, on his eight track release, Lifestyles (out today). And although summer comes to mind when we think of the word 'chillwave' Ben mentioned that this album, and the dreamy genre as we know it, is more about being trapped in his room during the wintertime than anything else.

Check out mo of dis or mo of dettes!

The Growlers (videos)

Dino Rossi got me on a Growlers video kick today. This first one is one he recommended after my last post, and I would have to agree with him; it does pair up quite nicely with it. So, in his honor and The Growlers', here are a few videos for you to check out. I LOVE these guys!

This is Spider Stomp (I do the wiggly stomp when I see spiders, fo sho!)

"Change, people don't change. People don't change when you want them to."

This is actually called Drinkin' The Juice Blues

To The Happy Few - Guide My Eyes

David (of Chief Black Cloud), Alex, Elysio and Cyril have a way of making edgy electro rock that grabs you instantly. I like to think of Guide My Eyes as silky electricity for my ears—silky electricity that radiates from my ears all the way down to my finger tips and toes.

This is another band off the Seven Sons Records label—a label that I have fallen in love with lately. Definitely check them out; they have some great stuff coming out of their Paris studio. Thanks dudes.

Indian Manhood - Indian Manhood (video)

Here's a great video by Dino Rossi for Indian Manhood's self-titled track. He always seems to play off the track name in a literal way—which I like about his vids. And he sure knows how to pick 'em, that Dino. He has lead me to some really great stuff lately. What a guy.

This has a great Kurt Vile folk rock feel to it.

Blessed Feathers - Blessed Feathers

These guys are from Milwaukee. I once went to Milwaukee and ate a lot of cheese curds. You should listen to this. It's perfect for a lazy day and for sitting around and eating cheese curds.

This album was recorded by them in "various living rooms, bedrooms, back porches, barnyards, and bathrooms throughout southeastern Wisconsin."

Make love to Sheena's eyes, will you?

Costume Parties

I can't even tell you how refreshing it is to hear music like this right now. I love you Costume Parties. I wonder if my arms could fit around all four of you at once? Cyrus, Baylie, Dylan and Dallen, should we try?

I bet the names Dylan and Dallen cause some confusion when they hang out together...especially when they perform in those southern states. Dylan Dallen; Dallen, Dylan...

Oh my Dallan, these are good. You can definitely hear influences of The Strokes and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart.

Mickey Brown - Never Cry

This has to be my favorite track by Mickey so far. It also features one of my favorite Canadians, Lester Brown . I'm very excited to see/hear that these guys have come together to produce this song, which dates back to March but has just leaked out. Bravo boys.

Algodón Egipcio

Here's a Venezuelan artist I have been meaning to post for a while now. What drew me to Algodón Egipcio was his ability to create a tranquil environment with his soothing voice and flowing acoustic pop tones. The combination of these mixed with his Venezuelan influences makes this artist quite special and one that stands out from the masses. Algodón Egipcio normally plays in a band called Jóvenes y Sexys but recently completed his first solo album La Lucha Constante—originally planned to be released upon completion but was picked up by Lefse. Many are anticipating the release of this album, and it should be out soon.

Simon Stokes & The Nighthawks - Voodoo Woman

This classic psychedelic blues song is on repeat while I cook the pot of coffee...(gonna skip the stew) but man, oh man, I can't get enough...OF THE VOODOO [WOMAN]!

Edith Piaf - (Les Feuilles Mortes) Autumn Leaves

It's dark outside. A lonely street lamp reveals autumn leaves as they drift under the light and past my window. I'm sitting here, wrapped in a blanket, trying to stay warm but I continue to shiver. I'm neither happy nor sad, energetic nor tired—just neutral—but I find the power of Edith's voice and the sentimental tone of this gorgeous song to be quite moving. It has been a mini soundtrack to what has become an apparent exchange of seasons outside my window.

The falling leaves
Drift by the window
The autumn leaves
All red and gold

I see your lips
The summer kisses...

Lovely.

COMPILATION | THE CUT

Here's a mix I made for when I cut my hair last night—hence the name. To sum it up, the mix starts with a medley of pop, shoegaze and electro tunes and then takes a split and ends with some 'heavier' mixes—that's when things really got crazy with the skizzers.

I realized last night how much I haven't posted and would like to post, but for now, these are the ones that made The Cut.
