The Fruhstucks - Interview

Two talented musicians challenged the distance with their boundless passion and began to create experimental electro-pop that would soon capture the attention of others around the world. Their recently released Parade, I Don't Care EP carries your ears through an impressive set of relaxed melodies, and invites you to fall in love with their creative world.

I recently had the opportunity to interview Sutja—a man behind the love, enthusiasm and harmonic energy that makes up The Fruhstucks.

What inspired you to make music together? How did it all begin?

The lack of elegance, kindness and passion in previous bands made us fall in love as soon as we met each other.

What did you listen to when you were growing up?

Mmm so much music, various genres... like old school hip hop, rock and roll, or old strange electronic music... like Throbbing Whistle, The Cure, Bob Dylan, Run DMC, Joy Division, prince...

What are you currently listening to?

I think now is the time to listen new bands who make music remembering other times, or other feelings mixed with the actual technology.. and I think that is nice for all the world. Evolution.
We listen to nice bands like
Ariel Pink, Beach House, Best Coast, Wavves, Robertas, Summer Camp, Yacht...

When did you learn to play music, and how? Did you study somewhere?

I don't think we are good music teachers, or musicians... We made things nice to hear and to fall in love very fast, but we don't care about music perfection. We think it's just us, and we need to tell all the people to make visual art, music, or other creative things...
The Fruhstucks isn't only a band... It's a place to make some creative things and art shared with everyone and for everyone.

Can you describe some more of your influences? Music, literature, culture, life, etc.?

We both come from different backgrounds but in both cases our life experiences have been quite intense. We wish days had much more hours to enjoy as we'd like to but we do our best and we learn every single day of our existence.

When do you feel the most inspired? Is it generally in the morning or night? Or after something specific?

I had the mornings quite understimated but after joining
The Fruhstucks I guess I'm more morning-friendly. Anyway we don't need something specific. Sometimes songs make you feel dizzy... That's enough.

When you are not composing, how do you typically spend your day? What kind of hobbies do you enjoy?

Actually our first hobby is music. We listen so much music all the day because we both have been playing music as DJ's in several clubs in Spain... We love having a coffee, writing, listening to new music stuff, partying, meeting new people and new artists... friends for the band team.

Of your songs, which is the most meaningful to you, and why?

That's funny because we had huge meaningful emotions when we finished She Doesn't Know... But we just got mad with the intro in Parade, I Don't Care. Let's see what's happen tomorrow.

Is there anything else you would like to share?

Well, say thanks for this interview to you Teresa and your beauty site the Relentless Noisemaker. And just say we play the 9th October in Paris (at le Truskel) and the 14th in Tenerife, Canary Islands (at Festival Keroxen) We prepare our new release with 2 free digital songs and 4 vinyl songs for Christmas with our parents, lovers, and lovely friends Race Car Productions label team.

Thank you, Sutja, for this lovely interview, it has been a joy! All the best to you!
